Someone once told me that “happiness is not having what you want, but wanting what you have”. I’ve been trying to get to the bottom of this ever since.
We’ve been taught to want. To desire. We’ve been told that it’s human nature. We got used to compete and to fight.
We always want more. Faster! Higher! Stronger! We want it all and we want it now.
But what is it that we want exactly? What are we fighting for? We don’t really know, do we?
The idea that it’s never enough is so stuck in our minds that we cannot rest until we have everything we want. But when can we say we have it all if there is always something around the corner?
Let’s stop for a moment and look around. Stop and just feel for a moment.
Maybe we already have it all… maybe all that we need is right next to us but we never learned to enjoy what we have.
The secret of having it all is believing you already do.
